Efficient lighting in council owned properties is really important to enable cost savings and carbon reduction. Dextra has been working with several local authorities around the UK, including a long working relationship with Newcastle City Council.
One of its latest projects is Dr Ryan House, a sheltered housing development exclusively for people over 55. There are 39 one-bedroom apartments in the building in the Walker area of the city, conveniently located near local shops and bus routes.
All apartments are designed with comfort and home security in mind including; double glazing, modern fitted kitchens and bathrooms, television and telephone points and a secure camera entry system and independent front door.
Dr Ryan House also offers residents well-maintained communal areas and facilities including a communal lounge for social events, laundry room, a scooter store and guest suite.
Dextra worked with McVickers Electrical Contractors and consultant Armstrong Rhead on the project which was a building upgrade to improve aesthetics and create a more ‘welcome feel’.
Dextra’s R43 sensors were used throughout corridor areas where the luminaires had corridor function drivers. Its R25C and R25W were used in areas for ease of installation and provided automatic control.
