Commonly known as LED, the organisation operates 13 public Sports and Leisure facilities, a theatre, a family entertainment centre, and an adventure playground in partnership with local councils, school academies and other sporting organisations.
LED facilities attract over one million visitors a year and have around 10,000 members.
Due to its charitable status and a commercial approach to operations, since its conception, LED has saved the council and ratepayers over £5million to December 2019.
Working with contractor MAT Electrical, LED and East Devon District Council wanted a lighting solution to upgrade its tennis centre that helped the local community by saving carbon.
Having previously installed a Dual Switch T5 lamped Dextra product, it seemed fitting to update the tennis centre with the direct LED replacement.
The T5 lamped Dextra product had been installed by Dextra approximately 12 years ago, and the decision was made to further reduce carbon under the new TM65 ruling. At the time T5 was the front runner of low wattage luminaire but now LEDs offered another chance to reduce it further and carbon savings were achieved.
