Described as one of Bristol’s most transformative office buildings, The Crescent has been designed and built with sustainability in mind. Alongside the building’s target for Net Zero Carbon, the Crescent is transforming the workplace into a place where employee health and wellbeing can also thrive.
The building has 98,521 sq ft of office space. The floors of the building have been repurposed into state-of-the-art workspaces designed to reconfigure as needs change.
As well as the office space, there is 19,400 sq ft of wellbeing, amenity space and a private garden, as well as 164 cycle spaces and a maintenance hub. There are also 19 car parking spaces including four EV charging points and a VRF heating and cooling system.
The Crescent is based at the heart of Bristol, with Temple Meads, its vibrant food market and the train station all nearby.
In terms of sustainability, 3,400 tonnes of carbon was saved in construction.
At the end of the redevelopment the total carbon emissions were calculated and offset in accordance with the UKGBC framework.
Thanks to Dextra, the building now has efficient and sustainable LED lighting installed as well automatic LED lighting controls.
Working for Whitehead Building Services, alongside contractor Kier and consultant SDS, Dextra was able to overcome one of the biggest challenges of this project, to cover the architect’s requirement for a curved light fitting that met the aesthetics of the curved building as well as meeting the standards in an office environment. Dextra developed and launched a new Runway Curve product to accommodate this. It also supplied the Tridonic M Sensor that sits on a Helvar hard wired DALI system and provides EM Reporting. The Helvar lighting control system was installed as well.
